Raul Arias Alvarez

Raul Arias Alvarez is a director for the Chemical Consulting teams at S&P Global Commodity Insights.In his advisory role, Raul works with leading actors of the petrochemical and plastics industries to help them gain a better understanding of the markets, market dynamics and industry fundamentals that matter to them, be it as current participants or as potential market entrants. He joined the consulting team of OMDC in 2013. Before joining S&P Global Commodity Insights, he served for six years as a senior consultant and manager for Latin America at Nexant. During his over fifteen years in the industry, he was a long-time collaborator of BASF. With the company, he held regional responsibility for a Strategic Business Unit (SBU), having previously occupied management positions in strategic planning, marketing, and sales.
Raul holds master's in engineering (plastics) and mechanical engineering degrees from RWTH Aachen University in Germany, and an industrial engineering degree from CeNETI, Mexico. He completed the coursework towards an MBA at UNAM Mexico and was trained in business management in the plastics industry at SKZ/IHK, Germany.
