Chief Technology & Innovation Officer
Stan Guzik is the Chief Technology Officer of S&P Global Commodity Insights. With over two decades of experience in setting technology innovation, strategy, and R&D in digital products, cybersecurity, and digital assets for the financial, regulatory and tax compliance industry, he drives innovation and market integrity.
In his current position as Chief Technology & Innovation Officer of S&P Global Commodity Insights over the past 5 years, Stan has also held the responsibilities of Chief Product, Innovation, and Data Officer. Under his leadership the organization transformed into a digital-first company, rewriting every software platform that produces price assessments and benchmark prices regulated by IOSCO and the European Benchmark Regulation. His innovation team built the world's first micro-grid DeFi powered marketplace.
Stan holds multiple technology patents and recently filed a utility patent application for "Tokenized Commodity Tendering on a Distributed Platform."
Prior to joining S&P Global Commodity Insights, Stan was Managing Director of Software Engineering at IPREO. There, he was responsible for the technology vision, strategy, and delivery for a market infrastructure portfolio of software and data platforms serving the primary capital markets, corporate investor relations, and market intelligence/surveillance.
Stan comes from an entrepreneurial background and was Partner and Chief Technology Officer of an Internet startup company that Thomson Reuters acquired in 2005. Over his 10+ years at Thomson Reuters, he built a world class product development organization that built ONESOURCE from the ground up into the leading global tax platform servicing multi-national corporations and accounting firms.
Stan is passionate about public service and giving back to his community and industry. Most recently, Stan was appointed as a member of the CFTC Technology Advisory Committee, which advises the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission on technology-related issues and developments in the financial industry. With this appointment, he continues to demonstrate his commitment to shaping the future of the financial industry through technology innovation.
He serves as a dedicated member of the Montclair State University Computer Science Academic Advisory Board for over nine years. He firmly believes that education and technology can transform people's lives, which inspired him to establish the Cape Town, South Africa FinTech Meetup group. Stan is also a founding member of the OWASP Foundation (Open Web Application Security Project), where he served on the board and established the first chapter and the first OWASP AppSec conference. Today, there are 278 OWASP chapters worldwide and multiple AppSec conferences globally. Stan's commitment to the OWASP mission led him to co-author the OWASP Application Security testing guide, which has millions of downloads and has been translated into multiple languages.
Stan holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from the Stevens Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Montclair State University. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds several technology certifications.
