With more than 25 years of experience in trade policy and quantitative and statistical analysis, he specializes in international trade, econometric and ML modeling, forecasting, general micro and macroeconomic analysis, international trade and public policy as well as real estate economics.

Before joining S&P Global, Diego worked at IHS Markit in Madrid, the WTO in Geneva, the GCC at Qatar Development Bank, CBRE Econometric Advisors in Boston, Massachusetts, and at different consultancies, including Big4 firms as well as boutique firms in Puerto Rico.

Diego has written reports on behalf of the WTO, governments, and the EC to analyze countries' trade policies, examine trade agreements' economic impact and legal approximation as well as generate recommendations for trade negotiations. He has also developed models covering different topics such as wholesale electricity prices in the Iberian peninsula, macro and micro forecasting, real estate, exposure to risk, policy impact (including labor regulations), and early-warning systems, amongst others. He also worked in IFRS 9 auditing macroeconomic forecasting models in major UK and Dutch banks as well as validating hypotheses for audits of major European and US energy companies. His work has spanned the US, Chile, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Spain, the UK, Latam, and Africa.

Diego holds a PhD and an MA in Economics from the University of Manchester, UK, as well as an MA in economics and a BS in mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico.
